존재의 '참을 수 있는' 가벼움

늦여름과 초가을은 맨해튼을 누비기에 좋은 계절이다.

‘미술의 메카’에서도 도심의 공원에 예술의 향기를 가미하며, 조각 공원으로 단장하고 있다.

공원을 산책하며, 혹은 벤치에 앉아 조각과 조우하게 되면 스트레스에 지친 마음도 미소를 짓는다. 

로어맨해튼의 시청공원(City Hall Park)에서는 7월 25일부터 뉴욕 작가 11인의 조각을 선보이고 있다.

주제는 ‘존재의 가벼움(Lightness of Being)’.

밀란 쿤데라의 소설이자 영화로 더 유명해진 ‘존재의 참을 수 없는 가벼움’에서 ‘참을 수 없는’을 제거했다. 

조각을 감상하면서 unbearable은 bearable의 상황이 되기 때문일지도.

센트럴파크에 컬러풀한 조각을 전시했던 프란츠 웨스트의 유작과 올 여름 록펠러센터 광장에 육중한 석상 

'Human Nature'를 전시한 우고 론디오네는 퍼포먼스로 참가했다.

브루클린브리지를 걷기 전, 혹은 센추리 21 쇼핑 후 잠시 쉬었다 가기에 좋은 곳이 시티홀 파크.
