Jazz Guitarist Yooyoun Cho’s New CD Release

A Tadd of Fat Birds

 

 

뉴욕에서 활동하는 재즈기타리스트 및 작곡가 조유윤(Yooyoun Cho)이 11월 11일 앨범 'A Tadd of Fat Birds'를 발매했다. 

비밥재즈 뮤지션 Tadd Dameron(태드 대머론), Fats Navarro(팻츠 나바로), Charlie “Bird” Parker(찰리 파커) 에게 헌정하는 이 앨범엔 테너 색소폰주자 Brendan Mark(브랜든 마크), 베이스 주자 Aron Caceres(애런 카세레스), 드러머로 Maxwell Filipiak(맥스웰 필리피악)이 참여해 솔로기타, 트리오, 쿼텟 등 다양한 곡을 담았다.  

 

현재 Youtube Music, Spotify, Apple Music을 비롯한 메이저 스트리밍 플랫폼들에서 감상할 수 있으며, CD 및 디지털 앨범 구매는 Bandcamp에서 가능하다. 한국에서는 재즈 전문 레이블 소리의나이테음악회사를 통해 내년 2월부터 CD 구매할 수 있다. 

 

조유윤은 어릴 적 피아노 공부를 시작해 드럼, 클라리넷, 기타를 배웠으며, 오케스트라와 밴드에서 활동했다. 연세대학교 음대 입학 후 서울 재즈아카데미를 다니며 동아리에서 연주했다. 이후 뉴욕주립대 퍼치스 칼리지(Purchase College)에서 석사학위를 받았다.

 

Jon Faddis(존 패디스), John Mosca(존 모스카), Ralph Lalama(랄프 랄라마), Andy Farber(앤디 파버) 등의 뮤지션들과 공부하고, 기타리스트 Pasquale Grasso(파스콸레 그라쏘)와 기타리스트 김준범을 사사했다.

 

2018년 트래디셔널 재즈밴드 SoWhat NOLA를 결성했으며, 지난 2021년 소리의나이테 음악회사를 통해 발매한 본 밴드의 앨범 'Seouleans Function'에서 작편곡 및 밴조, 트롬본 등의 악기를 연주했다. https://www.yooyouncho.com
