이탈리아의 국민배우 마르첼로 마스트로얀니(Marcello Mastroianni, 1924-1996)의 탄생 100주년을 맞아 12월 12일부터 내년 1월 5일까지 뉴욕현대미술관(MoMA)에서 마스트로얀니 회고전 'Marcello and Chiara Mastroianni, A Family Affair'이 열린다.

이 영화제에선 페데리코 펠리니 감독의 '달콤한 인생(La Dolce Vita, 1960)'과 '8 1/2(Otto e mezzo, 1963),' 비토리오 데 시카 감독, 소피아 로렌과 공연한 '이탈리안 스타일 결혼(Marriage, Italian Style, 1964)'과 '어제, 오늘, 그리고 내일(Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, 1964)', 루키노 비스콘티 감독의 '백야(White Nights, 1957),' 미켈란젤로 안토니오니 감독의 '밤(La notte)', 그리고 프랑스 배우 카트린느 드뇌브와 딸 키아라 마스트로얀니가 출연한 크리스토프 오노레 감독의 '마르첼로 미오(Marcello Mio,  2024)' 등이 상영된다.

마스트로얀니는 1970년 카트린느 드뇌브와 결혼, 4편의 영화를 함께 찍었다. 2년 후 딸 키아라 마스트로얀니를 낳았고, 1975년 이혼했다. 그러나, 친구로 남아 1996년 12월 마스트로얀니가 전립선암으로 사망할 때 옆에서 지켜봤다.

To celebrate the centenary of Marcello Mastroianni’s birth, we’ve invited the actress Chiara Mastroianni to present a discriminating and cherished selection of her father’s films. Many of these will be shown in new digital restorations courtesy of Cinecittà, beginning with the premiere of Luchino Visconti’s Le notte bianche (White Nights, 1957) on December 12.

Chiara Mastroianni will also introduce a few of her own films, including the North American premiere of Christophe Honoré’s  Marcello Mio (2024). A highlight of the main Cannes competition this year, Marcello Mio is a loving dual portrait in which the actress inhabits various of her father’s guises while also interrogating her own life.
