김연아가 빼앗긴 '소치' 금메달...러시아의 '수치'

'피겨 여왕' 김연아가 결점 없는 완벽한 연기를 하고도 실수한 아델리나 소트니코바(러시아)에게 금메달을 넘겨주었다.

홈그라운드의 잇점이라고나 할까. 러시아 여자 피겨 스케이터가 동계 올림픽 사상 최초로 금메달을 목에 걸었다.  이에 언론, 피겨 전문가들과 팬들은 쇼킹하다는 반응을 보이고 있다.

미국 언론들은 심사의 공정성에 의문을 제기하는 논조의 기사를 실었다.

심사위원 중 한명은 러시아피겨스케이팅연맹 회장의 부인, 한명은 98년 나가노 올림픽 빙상 투표 스캔달의 주인공으로 자격정지됐던 인물이었다고 보도됐다.

미 스포츠 전문 케이블 채널 ESPN의 조사결과 김연아가 금메달을 받았어야 한다는 여론이 92%에 달했으며, 소트니코바는 6%에 불과했다.

또한, USA 투데이는 익명을 요구한 한 피겨스케이팅의 고위 간부가 "심사위원들은 명백히 아델리나 소트니코바에게 기울었으며, 그게 그들이 할 수 있는 일"이라고 밝혔다고 보도했다.

이에 분개한 인권 회복 청원 사이트 Change.org는 소치 동계 올림픽 여자 피겨 스케이팅 심판 판정에 대한 조사와 재 심사를 촉구하는 인터넷 서명 운동을 벌이고 있다.

24일 오전 11시 현재 청원 서명 사이트에는 200만명이 넘는 지지자들이 서명한 상태다.

이로써 소치 동계 올림픽은 솔트레이크 올림픽과 함께 '부정'이라는 오명을 그림자처럼 달고 역사에 남을 것으로 보인다.

 A high-ranking Olympic figure skating official, who spoke to USA TODAY sports on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the topic, said the geographic makeup of the judging panel "was clearly slanted towards (Olympic gold medalist) Adelina Sotnikova," adding "this is what they can do."

An Olympic judge who was not on the women's panel, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the issue, said Sotnikova, "was not worthy of the marks she got. The Russian audience for sure influenced her marks."

Adelina Sotnikova skated beautifully Thursday night, the night she won the gold medal for women’s figure skating…and the night she sparked a global inferno of anger.

They think that Sotnikova’s scores were inflated, that the judging was rigged—and possibly because Sotnikova is Russian and the Olympics were in Russia and Russians are corrupt and evil and dastardly, according to all the Saturday morning cartoons we watched as kids.

2014 소치 동계올림픽 쇼트프로그램 1위

2014 소치 동계올림픽에 출전한 피겨 스케이터 김연아(24) 선수가 20일 피겨 여자 싱글 쇼트프로그램에서 1위를 차지했다.

뮤 지컬 '리틀 나이트 뮤직(Little Night Music)'의 삽입곡 'Send in the Clowns(어릿광대를 보내주오)'에 맞춰 연기를 펼친 김연아 선수는 기술점수(TES) 39.03점, 예술점수(PCS) 35.89점을 얻어 총점 74.92점을 기록했다.

이로써 김연아 선수는 2010 밴쿠버 동계올림픽에 이어 올림픽 2연패를 달성할 기대를 모으고 있다. 역대 올림픽 2연패를 달성한 선수는 소냐 헤니(노르웨이)와 카타리나 비트(동독) 단 2명뿐이다.
