제 69회 칸 국제영화제로 가는 한국 감독들

박찬욱 감독의 '아가씨', 나홍진 감독의 '곡성', 연상호 감독의 '부산행'이 2016 칸 국제영화제(5/11-22)에 초대됐다.

제 69회 칸영화제 집행위원회가 14일 올 칸 공식 섹션부문 상영작 44편을 발표했다.

경쟁 부문(Competition)에 초청된 박찬욱 감독의 '아가씨(Agassi)'는 페드로 알모도바르(줄리에타), 올리비에 아사야(퍼스널 쇼퍼), 장-피에르 다덴과 뤽 다덴 형제(모르는 소녀), 짐 자무쉬(패터슨), 켄 로치(나, 다니엘 블레이크), 크리스찬 문주(바칼로레앗), 숀 펜(마지막 얼굴) 감독의 20여편과 황금종려상(Palme d'Or)을 두고 경합하게 된다.

Agassi

'아가씨'는 영국 빅토리아 시대를 배경으로 한 사라 워터스의 소설 '핑거스미스(Fingersmith)'가 원작이다. 영화는 1930년대 한국과 일본을 배경으로 귀족 아가씨와 그녀의 재산을 노리는 백작과 아가씨의 하녀 간의 이야기를 그린 범죄 스릴러. 김민희, 하정우, 김태리, 문소리가 출연한다.  

칸 경쟁 부문에 한국영화가 초대된 것은 2012년 '돈의 맛'(임상수 감독)에 이어 처음이다. 박찬욱 감독은 2004년 '올드 보이'로 심사위원대상(Grand Prix), 2009년 '박쥐'로 심사위원상(Prix du Jury)을 수상한 바 있다.

Goksung

비경쟁 부문에는 20세기 폭스가 투자한 나홍진 감독의 '곡성(Goksung)'을 비롯 스티븐 스필버그의 신작 'The BFG', 조디 포스터 감독의 '머니 몬스터', 셰인 블랙의 '나이스 가이즈' 등 4편이 상영된다. 나홍진 감독은 데뷔작 '추격자'(2008)가 심야상영 부문에, '황해'(2011)는 주목할만한 시선, 초청된데 이어 세번째다. 비경쟁부문에는2008년 김지운 감독의 ‘좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈’ 이 상영된 바 있다. 

The Train to Busan

연상호 감독의 '부산행(The Train to Busan)'은 심야 상영(Midnight Screening) 부문에서 상영된다. 이 부문엔 짐 자무쉬 감독의 이기 팝(Iggy Pop) 다큐멘터리 'Gimme Danger'과 단 2편이 초청됐다.

 One Kilogram

한편, 올 시네마운데이션(18편) 부문에는 한국예술종합학교 영상원의 박영주 감독의 '1킬로그램'이 상영된다. 

이외에도 특별 상영 부문엔 알버트 세라 감독의 '루이 14세의 죽음' 등 4편, 주목할만한 시선(Un Certain Regard) 부문에는 고레-에다 히로카주의 '폭풍 후' 등 17편이 초청됐다.  

 Cafe Society

칸 영화제의 공식 섹션은 크게 경쟁 부문과 비경쟁 부문으로 나뉘며 비경쟁부문 내에 심야상영, 주목할 만한 시선, 특별상영, 시네파운데이션, 단편영화 부문으로 나뉘어 상영된다. 

제 69회를 맞는 올 칸 영화제는 5월 11일 우디 알렌의 신작 카페 소사이어티( Cafe Society)'로 개막해서 22일까지 프랑스 칸에서 열린다. 심사위원장은 '매드 맥스(MAd Max)' 시리즈의 조지 밀러 감독이 맡는다.
