펜주 이리 미술관장 조슈아 헬머 상습 성희롱으로 파면

Joshua Helmer펜실베니아주 이리 미술관(Erie Art Museum)의 조슈아 헬머(Joshua Helmer, 31) 관장이 지난 뉴욕타임스의 성희롱 기사 폭로 후 3일만에 전격 파면됐다. 조슈아 헬머는 필라델피아뮤지엄에서 매니저로 일하면서부터 여직원들을 성희롱했지만, #MeToo로 이어지지 않았다.
오히려 2018년 미국내 최연소(29세)로 미술관장으로 스카웃됐다. 그리고, 성희롱은 더욱 뻔뻔해졌다. 지난 10일 뉴욕타임스의 기사가 발행된 후 페이스북에 헬머의 사퇴를 촉구하는 온라인 서명이 13일 오호까지 3천여명에 달했다. 이에 뮤지엄의 8인으로 구성된 이사회는 헬머의 파면?/사직?(불분명)를 발표하기에 이른 것이다. 조슈아 헬머는 하트윅대 졸업 후 시라큐스대에서 역사학으로 석사학위를 받았다. 지난해 10월 아트뉴스는 조슈아 헬머를 '40세 미만 뮤지엄 관장' 편에서 소개했다.
