'바이러스 사냥꾼' 정은경 질병관리청장 BBC 여성 100인 선정

영국의 BBC가 정은경 질병관리청장을 2020년 여성 100인에 선정했다. BBC는 정은경 청장을 코비드19 팬데믹에 대응한 '바이러스 사냥꾼'이라고 묘사했다. 이 리스트엔 배우 제인 폰다, 미셸 여(양자경)을 비롯 세계의 정치인, 작가, 예술가, 과학자들이 올랐다.
정은경 청장은 1965년 광주에서 태어나 전남여고 졸업 후 서울대 의대, 보건학 석사, 박사 학위를 받았다. 2010년 보건복지부에 입문, 2017년부터 질병관리본부장으로 코로나19 확산을 저지시킨 공헌을 세웠다. 올 9월엔 질병관리청장으로 승진했다.

As the current commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) – and having previously served as its first female chief – she is known for her transparency and the calm she brings to her daily briefings on the pandemic.
