코로나 팬데믹으로 재정 손실을 입은 미 문화단체 중 일부는 급여보호프로그램(PPP)를 받고도 직원을 대거 해고한 것으로 조사됐다. 

AFSCME(American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees)가 미 뮤지엄, 동물원, 식물원 등의 연방 자료, 재무제표 및 미디어 보고서를 분석한 바에 따르면, PPP 수혜 자격이 있는 약 7천500여개 문화기관에 제공된 16억 달러 중 절반 가량인 7억 7천100만 달러가 228개 단쳬에 돌아갔다. 그러나, 이 228개 기관은 총 직원 1만4천400명인 28%를 해고한 것으로 나타났다.
