NJ 버겐카운티 검찰:  문인희, 미술품 판매금 중 27만3천달러 빼돌려 개인구좌 입금 후 부동산에 전용

뉴욕에서 미술 큐레이터로 활동해온 문인희(Inhee Moon, Iris Moon, 53/ 11/25/1967, single; self-employed, 275 Engle Street, Apt. H2, Englewood

)씨가 27만 3천 달러 사기에 의한 절도 혐의로 19일 체포됐다.

 

뉴저지지 버겐카운티 검찰청은 보도자료에서 올 6월 16일 문인희씨가 미술품 판매에서 불법적으로 자금을 빼돌렸다는 고소장을 접수했다. 버겐카운티 마크 무셀라(Mark Musella) 검사팀이 수사한 결과 문인희씨는 고객을 대신해 미술품 판매 거래를 중개했으며, 그 판매금액 중 27만3천달러를 개인 금융계좌에 입금한 후 그녀가 관리하는 부동산에 전용했다고 밝혔다. 

 

올 10월 19일 검찰은 문인희씨를 사기에 의한 2급 절도 혐의로 체포했다가 해켄색의 센트럴주디시얼프로세싱코트 첫 출두 소환을 앞두고 석방했다.  뉴욕한국일보에 따르면, 미술품 판매 의뢰자는 한인이다. 미술품은 일본 설치작가 야요이 쿠사마(Yayoi Kusama)로 추정된다.

 

문인희씨는 2021년 8월 4일 뉴저지에 파산 신청(Chapter 13)한 상태다.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of INHEE MOON (DOB: 11/25/1967; single; self-employed) of 275 Engle Street, Apt. H2, Englewood, NJ on the charge of theft by deception. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

 

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit received a complaint against INHEE MOON which accused MOON of unlawfully taking funds from the sale of a piece of artwork. The subsequent investigation revealed that MOON, on behalf of her client, had brokered a transaction involving the sale of a piece of art and diverted approximately $273,000.00 of the sale into her own personal financial account and ultimately into a real estate property that she controlled.

 

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, INHEE MOON was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree theft by deception, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4(a). MOON was released on a summons pending her first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

 

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
