BEEF Wins Eight Emmys

 

 

이성진 극본, 스티븐 연과 알리 왕 주연의 넷플릭스 드라마 '성난 사람들(BEEF)'이 제 75회 에미상 한정 시리즈 작품상, 남녀주연상, 연출상(이성진), 극본상(이성진), 편집상, 캐스팅상, 의상상 등 8개 부문상을 수상했다. 난폭운전을 계기로 복수전에 뛰어든 아시아계 남녀의 이야기를 그린 '성난 사람들'은 에미상 13개 부문 후보에 올랐었다.

 

이에 앞서 '성난 사람들'은 올 골든글로브상 최우수 작품상과 남녀주연상, 크리틱스 초이스상 작품, 남녀주연, 여우조연(마리아 벨로)상을 석권한 바 있다. 이성진 감독과 스티븐 연은 2022년 '오징어 게임'으로 에미상을 거머쥔 황동혁 감독과 이정재에 이어 쾌거를 올렸다. 알리 왕은 아시아계 최초로 에미 여우주연상을 수상했다.

'상속(Succession)'은  최우수 드라마 등 6개 부문, 레스토랑 주방을 배경으로 한 '더 베어(The Bear)'는 최우수 코미디 등 10개 부문을 휩쓸었다. 1월 15일 마틴루터킹즈 데이에 LA 피콕시어터에서 열린 2024 에미상 시상식은 코미디언 안소니 앤더슨의 사회로 진행됐으며, Fox-TV로 중계됐다.
