친애하는 미국 국민 여러분,

지난 3년 반 동안 우리는 한 국가로서 큰 진전을 이루었습니다.

오늘날 미국은 세계에서 가장 강력한 경제를 갖고 있습니다. 우리는 국가를 재건했고, 노인들의 처방약 비용을 낮추었으며, 기록적인 수의 미국인들에게 저렴한 의료 서비스를 확대하는 데 역사적인 투자를 해왔습니다. 우리는 유독 물질에 노출된 수백만 명의 참전용사들에게 필요한 치료를 제공했습니다. 30년 만에 처음으로 총기 안전법을 통과시켰습니다. 최초의 아프리카계 미국인 여성을 대법관으로 임명했습니다. 그리고 세계 역사상 가장 중요한 기후 법안을 통과시켰습니다. 오늘날 미국은 그 어느 때보다도 리더십을 발휘할 수 있는 최적의 위치에 있습니다.

My Fellow Americans,

Over the past three and a half years, we have made great progress as a Nation.

Today, America has the strongest economy in the world. We've made historic investments in rebuilding our Nation, in lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, and in expanding affordable health care to a record number of Americans. We've provided critically needed care to millions of veterans exposed to toxic substances. Passed the first gun safety law in 30 years.

Appointed the first African American woman to the Supreme Court. And passed the most significant climate legislation in the history of the world. America has never been better positioned to lead than we are today.

I know none of this could have done without you, the American people. Together, we overcame a once in a century pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We've protected and preserved our Democracy. And we've revitalized and strengthened our alliances around the world.

It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.

I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.

For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thankVice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. and let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you've placed in me.

I believe today what I always haveL that there is nothing America can't do-when we do it together. We just have to remember we are the United States of America.
