17세기 일본 장군들의 암투를 그린 FX 채널의 역사극 '쇼군(Shogun, 장군)'이 제 76회 프라임타임 에미상(Emmy Award) 시상식에서 작품상, 감독상, 남녀주연상(사나다 히로유키, ) 등 18개 부문을 휩쓸었다. 제임스 클라벨(James Cravell)의 1975년 동명 소설을 원작으로 한 '쇼군'은 1980년 리처드 체임벌레인과 미후네 도시로 주연의 미니시리즈(NBC)로 제작된 바 있다. 44년만에 리메이크된 '쇼군'은 25개 후보에 올라 일본어 시리즈 최초로 최우수 작품상(Outstanding Drama Series)을 수상했다. '오징어 게임(Squid Game)'은 2022년 외국어 시리즈 최초로 작품상을 수상한 바 있다.
