오프브로드웨이 공연을 대상으로 하는 루실로텔상(Lucille Lortel Awards) 시상식이 5월 1일 뉴욕대 스쿼볼센터에서 열렸다. 이 상은 배우 겸 예술감독이자 연극 프로듀서였던 루셀 로텔(1900-1999)의 이름을 따서 제정됐다.

37TH ANNUAL LUCILLE LORTEL AWARDS RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

 

Outstanding Musical recipient “Kimberly Akimbo” ties with “Oratorio For Living Things” for most awards with three each; Outstanding Play goes to Sanaz Toossi’s “English.”

 

New York, NY (May 1, 2022) – The 2022 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out this evening to recipients in 16 categories, with two honorary awards also bestowed.

 

Returning to a live, in-person ceremony for the first time in three years, the Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball hosted by three pairs of stars from stage and screen: Jared Grimes (Broadway’s “Funny Girl”) & Jeff Hiller (HBO’s “Somebody Somewhere”), Krysta Rodriguez & Jelani Alladin (“Hercules”), and Jennifer Simard & Christopher Sieber (“Company.”) The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by TDF.

 

The inaugural Outstanding Ensemble award was presented to the cast of Ars Nova’s Oratorio For LivingThings. Both Performer in a Musical awards were presented to Kimberly Akimbo – Lead to Victoria Clark and Featured to Bonnie Milligan. The Atlantic Theater Company production with Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and Music by Jeanine Tesori, also received the award for Outstanding Musical. Sanaz Toossi’s English, a co-production of Atlantic Theater Company and Roundabout Theatre Company, took

home the award for Outstanding Play.

 

Special honorees this year included Deirdre O’Connell, who was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by Heidi Schreck; and David Henry Hwang, who was inducted onto the famed Playwrights’ Sidewalk by Jeanine Tesori.

 

The Off-Broadway League’s Lucille Lortel Awards Administration Committee (Jeremy Adams, Tisa Chang, Carol Fishman, George Forbes, Danielle Karliner Naish, Ralph Peña, Catherine Russell, Lindsey Sag, and Casey York) and the Lucille Lortel Theatre (George Forbes, Jeffrey Shubart, Nancy Hurvitz, Alana CantySamuel, Maura Le Viness, and Karla Liriano) produce the Lortel Awards Ceremony. Acclaimed writer/director Michael Heitzman returns to direct the Lortel Awards for the twelfth consecutive year.

 

Representatives of the Off-Broadway League, Actors’ Equity Association, Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, United Scenic Artists, the Lucille Lortel Theatre, in addition to theatre journalists, academics and other Off-Broadway professionals, serve on the Voting Committee.
