바티칸 교황청은 지난 200여년간 바티칸뮤지엄이 소장해온 고대 그리스 조각 3점을 반환한다고 발표했다. 말의 머리, 수염이 난 남자, 소년 조각이다. 이로써 런던 대영박물관(The British Museum)이 그리스 정부와 수십년간 논쟁해온 파르테논 대리석 조각 반환에 압력이 높아질 것으로 보인다. 파르테논 신전은 BC 447년부터 BC 432년 사이에 아테네 아크로폴리스에 지어졌다. 파르테논의 조각은 현재 대영박물관, 루브르뮤지엄, 비엔나 미술사 박물관 등지에서 소장하고 있다.
