뮤지컬을 영화로 옮긴 '메리 포핀스 리턴스'(Mary Poppins Returns, 린 마누엘 미란다 주연)와 '스타탄생'(A Star is Born, 레이디 가가, 브래들리 쿠퍼 주연)이 2019 골든글로브상 최우수 작품상(뮤지컬 코미디/드라마)에 올랐다.
한편, 뮤지컬 영화 '웨스트 사이드 스토리(West Side Story)'를 리바이벌할 스티븐 스필버그는 주연 마리아 역을 할 배우를 찾고 있다.
