Officials confirmed more than 20,000 deaths in Turkey and Syria as rescue efforts continue.

Truck shortages, blocked roads and other hurdles are impeding efforts by the 100,000-plus rescue personnel working in Turkey to unearth victims, bury the dead and provide aid to desperate survivors.

터키 지진 최소 5천명 사망, 버팔로(NY)도 지진 4.2도

6일 오전 6시 15분경 뉴욕주 버팔로 이리 카운티(Erie County)에 4.2도 강도 지진이 발생했다. 인명이나 재산 피해는 보고되지 않았다. 한편, 터키 남동부는 6일 새벽 7.8도 강진으로 건물이 붕괴되며 터키와 시리아등지에서 최소 5천명이 사망, 1만2천여명의 사상자가 발생했으며, 약 3천채의 건물이 붕괴됐다고 뉴욕타임스가 보도했다. 이탈리아 정부는 연안 전 지역에 지진해일 주의보를 발령했다.

#6.1-6.9: 인구 밀집 지역에선 큰 피해(연간 100건)

#7.0-7.9: 대형 지진, 심각한 피해 (연간 10-15건)

#8.0 이상: 대지진, 재난 (연간 1-2건 발생)
