팬케이크, 햄버거, 샌드위치, 달걀, 수프, 커피... 등을 파는 다이너(간이식당)이 가장 많은 주는? 400여개가 있는 뉴저지라고. 그래서 뉴저지는 미 최다인 400여개의 다이너가 있는 '세계 다이너의 수도(Diner Capital of the World)'라 불리운다. 가장 오래된 다이너는 1925년 아르데코가 유행이던 시절 오픈한 뒤몽 크리스탈 다이너(Fumont Crystal zdiner, 2015)'와 1929년 문을 연 서밋 다이너(Summit Diner). 1940-50년대 그리스계 이민자들이 다이너를 운영하면서 그릿, 이탈리아, 남부 양키 및 멕시코 요리가 포람됐다.
