March, 2017 - The Young Concert Artists Series is proud to present the New York debut of Korean Pianist Dasol Kim on Tuesday, March 21. Acclaimed by the Norddeutsche Bericht for “refined artistry and incredible maturity,” he performs a program of Beethoven, Barber, and Chopin.
A sought-after soloist, he has appeared with international orchestras including the New York Philharmonic in Seoul, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra, the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, and the Belgium National Orchestra.
Mr. Kim has performed at prestigious festivals including La Roque d’Antheron in France, the Kissinger Sommer in Germany, and the Great Mountain(PyeongChang) Music Festival in Korea. A frequent chamber player, he partners with prominent musicians including cellist David Geringas, violinist Mihaela Martin, violist Kyoungmin Park, cellists Edward Arron and Myung-Wha Chung, and YCA’s violinist Paul Huang, among others.
As a Winner of the 2015 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Mr. Kim also makes his Washington, DC recital debut on March 14 at the Theatre of the Arts at the University of DC. He graduated from the Hannover Music School in Germany, where he studied with Arie Vardi and Gerald Fauth. His debut CD, “Dasol Kim Plays Schumann” was released in May 2015 on the Universal Music Korea label.
Young Concert Artists, Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 1961 by Susan Wadsworth, discovers and launches the careers of extraordinary musicians from around the world. Artists who made their debuts in this series include Korean violinists Chee-Yun, Ju-Young Baek, and Han-Bin (now Amadeus Leopold).
