Concerts, Lectures and Masterclasses are planned as part of the 2017 Nineteenth Season of the International Keyboard Institute & Festival, which will take place at Hunter College from July 16 – 30. Fourteen concerts featuring Guest Artists and Faculty will take place at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College each evening at 8:00 pm. Daily featured Masterclasses and weekend special events will take place in Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College. In addition, IKIF will present pre-concert lectures and interviews from The Kaye Playhouse during the Festival each night starting at 7:00pm July 16.
This year the Guest Artist Faculty includes distinguished pianists Vladimir Feltsman, Alon Goldstein, and Alexander Kobrin, for selected masterclasses and recitals. Founder/Director Jerome Rose will perform the opening concert. Making Festival concert debuts are Vladimir Feltsman, Nikita Mndoyants, and Jie Chen. Hunter College Faculty members returning this year to IKIF are: Geoffrey Burleson (Director of Piano Studies at Hunter College) for a solo recital, and Quynh Nguyen as a Faculty Artist. Returning to give a recital and selected masterclasses are Ilya Yakushev, Magdalena Baczewska, Jeffrey Swann, Steven Mayer, Massimiliano Ferrati, and Dmitry Rachmanov. Throughout the series, David Dubal and other guests will present Pre-Concert Program Notes each evening at 7:00pm in the Kaye.
Free Lectures and events in Lang Recital Hall will be held mid-festival on Saturday afternoon during the Festival. Topics will include a lecture by David Dubal: “Louis Moreau Gottschalk & The History of the American Pianist”. Concerts by young artists Ivan Gusev and Vladimir Rumyantsev will also take place.
This year the IKIF Artists Recognition Scholarship Awards Competition will be made possible by a donation from JMW Consultants, Inc. The competition Finals will be held on the last Sunday of the Festival in Lang Recital Hall from 11am – 1pm and from 2 – 4pm. The Semi Finals will be held on the last Saturday of the Festival at 11am. In addition to a scholarship award, the First Prize winner of the competition will be offered a concert on the IKIF 2018 Masters Series, in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of IKIF.
Highlights of the two-week Festival include:

Faculty Artists who will teach and perform include Akira Eguchi, Yuri Kim, Emanuel Krasovsky, Nina Lelchuk, Quynh Nguyen, Michael Oelbaum, Victor Rosenbaum, José Ramos Santana, Nina Tichman , Matei Varga, and Eduard Zilberkant.
Since 1999 the Festival has attracted students from around the world who have the opportunity to attend the Festival to study with Faculty Artists, participate in masterclasses, and attend concerts and lectures given by some of the world’s best-known pianists and scholars. Participants who attend the Festival for two weeks are eligible to compete for $10,000 in the IKIF Artist Recognition Scholarship Awards made possible by a donation from JMW Consultants, Inc. This year IKIF, in addition to distributing scholarship awards, will grant to the First Prize winner of the competition a performance on the IKIF 2018 Masters Series in celebration of our 20th Anniversary. IKIF will also award to the First Prize winner a concert opportunity at the Accademia Europea Villa Bossi (Italy) and a recording for the Sheva Collection label.

Single concert tickets: $20 *** Festival Concert Pass: $200 (includes 14 events 7/16 -30).
Week I Concert Pass: $100 (includes 7 concert events 7/16 - 7/22).
Week II Concert Pass: $100 (includes 7 concert events, 7/23 - 30).
Concert Passes are not valid for Masterclasses. Special Discounts will be available for Hunter College students.
Additional Student and Senior Discounts will be available at the box office.
