2016 CAMPAIGN SUMMARY & TOP 10 RANKINGS

Sotheby's Wine Futures Rankings Released As we do every year, we are pleased to announce our sales rankings for the Bordeaux Futures campaign which has just finished. By both value and volume, Mouton Rothschild was the best-selling 2016 Bordeaux at Sotheby's Wine, testimony to the brilliant winemaking of Philippe Dhalluin and his team. We also saw strong sales for the other First Growths, top Left Bank properties especially Leoville Las Cases and Cos d'Estournel, and the top wines of the Right Bank, with Canon being a particular success. Campaign Overview Way before the wines started being released to the market, one thing was inarguable: the quality of the wines, especially on the Left Bank. Qualitatively, this is clearly the best vintage since 2010, producing classic Bordeaux wines of structure, fruit and freshness, and ones which will age very well. Once the releases began, our buyers followed suit, picking up all of the First Growths and other top Left Bank wines, including Leoville Las Cases, La Mission Haut Brion, Lynch Bages, Cos d'Estournel and Pichon Lalande. On the Right Bank, the value pick of the vintage was clearly the revitalized Canon, while the First Growth equivalents were typically strong: Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Lafleur and Petrus. We still have good stock of most 2016s, including the First Growths and most of the other top Left Bank wines. The top Right Bank wines are a little more limited due to the smaller volumes produced, but please see the list below for current availability.
