Position Type: Internships Post Date: December 18, 2017 Application Due: January 29, 2018

Internship

Curatorial interns will assist specialists in European painting, sculpture, and decorative arts from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century. Each intern will collaborate with curatorial staff on research projects pertaining to areas of art history represented in The Frick Collection.

This internship provides a superb opportunity for participating in all aspects of curatorial work in a small, dynamic department and for interacting with staff across the institution.

Eligibility

The Curatorial Internship is open to upper-level undergraduates or graduates pursuing degrees in art history. Preference will be given to students with a background in Western art and a demonstrated interest in museum work. Candidates with an interest in eighteenth to nineteenth-century British and/or French art are particularly encouraged to apply. Strong organizational skills as well as reading proficiency in French or another foreign language is beneficial. Foreign nationals must have eligibility to participate in unpaid internship placements in the U.S. Applicants are responsible for their own housing and travel arrangements. There is no stipend associated with this internship.

Time Commitment

The internship generally spans eight to ten weeks, with activities carried out two to four days per week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
