MEAN GIRLS

2015년 뮤지컬 '왕과 나'에서 텀팁 역을 맡았던 한인 배우 애슐리 박(Ashley Park) 이 3월 12일 브로드웨이 오거스트 윌슨 시어터에 올려지는 뮤지컬 '민 걸즈(Mean Girls)'의 주역 그레첸 위너스 역으로 캐스팅됐다. 2004년 린제이 로한, 레이첼 맥아담스, 아만다 사이프리드가 출연한 여고생들의 이야기 '민 걸스'는 한국에서 '퀸카로 살아남는 법'이라는 제목으로 개봉된 바 있다. 영화를 뮤지컬로 각색하게 될 뮤지컬 '민 걸스'는 브로드웨이 입성을 앞두고 10월 31일 워싱턴 DC의 내셔널 시어터에서 세계 초연됐다.

뮤지컬 '민 걸스'는 '새터데이 나잇 라이브'의 티나 페이가 대본을 썼고, 남편 제프 리치몬드가 작곡, 가사는 '리걸리 블론드'의 넬 벤자민, 연출과 안무는 '북 오브 몰몬'의 케이시 니콜로가 맡는다. '민 걸스'엔 애슐리 박 외에도 에리카 헤닝센, 테일러 루더맨, 케이트 록웰 등이 출연한다. 3월 12일부터 프리뷰를 거쳐 공식 개막일은 4월 8일.  http://meangirlsonbroadway.com

Mean Girls is now in rehearsals and begins previews on Broadway Monday, March 12, 2018 in advance of an official opening night of Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street).

Mean Girls, the new musical produced by Lorne Michaels, Stuart Thompson, Sonia Friedman and Paramount Pictures based on the hit film, will open on Broadway this Spring. Mean Girls features a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film, music by three-time Emmy Award winner Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

The cast is led by Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron, Taylor Louderman as Regina George, Ashley Park as Gretchen Wieners, Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith, Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, Grey Henson as Damian Hubbard, Kerry Butler as Ms. Norbury, Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor, Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall. The cast also includes Stephanie Lynn Bissonnette, Tee Boyich, Collins Conley, Ben Cook, DeMarius R. Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But, when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
