Thomas Gainsborough Experiments in Drawing

18세기 영국 거장 토마스 게인스보로(Thomas Gainsborough, 1727–1788)는 초상화와 시골풍경 묘사로 명성을 얻었다. 

게인스보로는 상류사회 초상화에 신물이 날 때면 자신의 열정인 풍경화를그렸다. 사실주의 풍경이 아니라 자신의 두뇌와 마음에서 나오는 풍경, 바위와 가지, 나뭇잎과 토양의 색깔도 임의로, 실험적으로 묘사했다.
