피아니스트 서형민(Hans H. Suh)씨가 뉴욕에서 열리는 국제 피아노 페스티벌(International Keyboard Institute & Festival)에서 리사이틀을 연다.
서형민씨는 26일 오후 5시 맨해튼 헌터칼리지 카예 플레이하우스에서 '프리스티지 시리즈(Prestige Series)' 프로그램의 일환으로 연주한다. 원래 블라디미르 루미얀체프가 연주할 예정이었으나 전격 대체됐다.

Laureate of the 2016 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition and the 1st prize winner as well as the “Isang Yun Special Prize” at the 2016 Isang Yun International Music Competition, Hans Hyungmin Suh has performed as a soloist in many of the world’s distinguished venues, such as Avery Fisher Hall (renamed David Geffen Hall) and Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Center, Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, Hitachi Systems Hall Sendai, and the Concert Hall of Seoul Arts Center.
In June 2013, Hans won the silver-medal at the 5th Sendai International Music Competition, and earlier in September 2011 Hans placed 3rd at the 2nd Florida International Piano Competition. In March 2012, he was selected to play in a concert tour in Japan sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation. In the summer of 2013, he was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox MA, and in April 2014 he was invited to perform in a tour, both solo and concerto appearances, in Germany and Switzerland. He had performed with world’s major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, Mannes Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and Kammerphilharmonie Graubünden, working with conductors as such as Kurt Masur, Ken-David Masur, Vladimir Feltsman, Michael Adelson, Myung-Whun Chung, and Pascal Verrot). In addition, Hans appeared in many solo piano concerts internationally in Korea, USA, Japan, Germany, and Italy. He participated in masterclasses by prominent artists such as Murray Perahia, Garrick Ohlsson, Jeffrey Kahane, Daejin Kim, Peter Serkin, and Emanuel Ax.
Born in Seoul, Korea on May 22, 1990, Hans began playing piano at age four, and started composing at age five. At age seven, he won first prize in The Korea Times Music Competition, and also held his first piano solo recital. Subsequently, he performed a series of concerts and was featured on Korean national television numerous times. Hans moved to the United States at ten years old, and made his New York debut only one year later by winning the 2001 New York Philharmonic Young Artist Audition. He received his music education at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division from 2001 to 2009, where he studied piano with Prof. Yuri Kim and Prof. Vladimir Feltsman with full scholarship. Afterwards, Hans attended Columbia University, studying ancient history as a distinguished John Jay Scholar, while studying piano with Prof. Matti Raekallio and Prof. Emanuel Ax through Columbia’s Juilliard Exchange Program. He had also briefly studied with Prof. Peter Serkin through Bard College in 2014.
