Calling all cinephiles! The 56th New York Film Festival is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers to assist a number of departments including Production, Marketing, Development, Videography, Special Events, Theater Ops, and several others. Volunteers are an indispensable part of the New York Film Festival, and their generosity and support contribute greatly to the festival’s success.
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 20 hours during the festival and are required to attend a volunteer orientation one month before the festival’s start. While some volunteer positions require special skills, many volunteers are needed to perform general tasks under direct supervision of festival staff. For their participation, volunteers will receive a t-shirt, a volunteer credential, and potential eligibility for FSLC membership.
Department Preference
Check-In: Help operate the central Volunteer table.
Convergence: Assist with Virtual Reality exhibitions.
Corporate Partnership: Assisting with sponsors. Some experience with office work is a plus.
Development: Help work the membership table. Customer service experience preferred.
Marketing : Assist the marketing team.
Merchandise: Sell merchandise at the NYFF merch kiosks. Experience handling money a plus.
Pre-Fest: Assisting in any pre-fest activity, typically in the Film Society offices.
Press: Work alongside the Publicity team at Press & Industry screenings starting on September 17th.
Production: Staff various festival venues and assist with distributing materials across the campus.
Projections: Check in Projections filmmakers and distribute their welcome materials.
Special Events: Assist the Special Events team by helping check-in guests and staff the Hauser Lounge. Must be 21+.
Talent Liaison: Assist the Hospitality team by escorting guests (filmmakers, actors, etc) around the festival. Previous talent liaison experience strongly preferred.
Theater Team: Assist our theater teams by helping to operate the festival's various venues.
Videography: Shoot Q&As and events at the festival. Must own a DSLR/HD video camera and tripod. Editing experience a plus.
