Summer Internship: College Students

Program Summary
The Central Park Conservancy College Summer Internship program provides college students with paid full-time positions for 10 weeks from June to August. Participants receive the opportunity to contribute directly to the management and care of Central Park and learn about the complexity of managing an iconic and historic urban park that receives over 42 million visits a year. Working with Conservancy staff, interns provide critical support throughout the summer, while developing skills on-the-job and gaining practical experience for their careers. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to attend career panels and networking events with professionals at Central Park Conservancy. College interns support areas of the Conservancy’s work, such as: Visitor Services and Public Programs, GIS & Asset Management, Information Technology, Special Events and Fundraising, Communications, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Tree Care, and Woodlands Management.

Housing and transportation are the responsibility of each individual intern. Attire for interns working in the office setting is business casual. Interns working in Park Operations will receive a uniform consisting of 4 shirts, 1 hat, and 1 set of rain-gear. Interns will bring / supply their own trousers (no jeans or shorts allowed) and work-boots.

The internship is 10 weeks, June 3 – August 9.

All interns work 5 days a week (specific days and times vary depending on position).

Interns are paid biweekly at a competitive hourly rate of $15/hour.

College interns are eligible for a 403(b) Retirement Plan and Short Term Disability.

Eligibility: 
Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student and have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework.

Please note: for your application to be considered you must provide the following documents: (1) current resume; (2) cover letter; and (3) a written personal reference. Your reference letter can be from a teacher, counselor, coach or supervisor.

The application period for the 2019 College Summer Internship will run from February 1 through March 29.
