The International Center of Photography (ICP), the world’s leading museum and school dedicated to photography and visual culture, today announced the 2020 honorees of its annual Infinity Awards, the leading honor for excellence in the field. The 36th annual ICP Infinity Awards will be held on the evening of Wednesday, April 29 at Ziegfeld Ballroom (141 West 54th Street, New York City). Featuring Sade Baderinwa as emcee, the event is ICP’s largest fundraiser and benefits its full range of education and exhibition programs.

“At ICP’s annual Infinity Awards, we are proud to recognize the incredible work of our honorees and their extraordinary commitment to raising awareness about important issues and telling compelling stories,” said Mark Lubell, Executive Director of ICP. “It’s an exciting time to celebrate photography at ICP, as we have just opened our new home reuniting our school and museum on the Lower East Side.”

2020 Infinity Award Categories and Recipients:

The 2020 Infinity Award honorees in the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism, Online Platforms and New Media, and Applied categories were chosen by a selection committee composed of ICP’s new Curator-At-Large, Isolde Brielmaier, curator of the Tyler Mitchell: I Can Make You Feel Good exhibition, now on view at ICP; North America Editor at Reuters Pictures Corinne Perkins; and Director of For Freedoms and 2017 Infinity Award Winner Michelle Woo.

The non-juried Infinity Awards were selected by ICP to acknowledge major achievements in photography, and to honor Cornell Capa, who founded ICP in 1974 to preserve the legacy of “concerned photography”—the creation of socially and politically minded images that have the potential to educate and change the world.

Since 1985, the ICP Infinity Awards have recognized major contributions and emerging talent in the fields of photojournalism, art, fashion photography, and publishing. This year’s ceremony follows the opening of ICP’s new integrated center at Essex Crossing on the Lower East Side.

The 2020 Infinity Awards Co-Chairs are Marjorie Rosen, Michael A. Clinton, and Judith Bookbinder. The event’s Honorary Committee members include Lynsey Addario, Sade Baderinwa, Glenda Bailey, Alexandra Bell, Nancy Borowick, Barron Claiborne, Sir Harold Evans, Fab 5 Freddy, Nina Garcia, Lauren Greenfield, Kurt Markus, Pat Schoenfeld, Vikki Tobak, Stellene Volandes, and Stephen Wilkes.

Sponsored by Hearst, the 36th annual ICP Infinity Awards will draw more than 400 attendees from the worlds of art, business, entertainment, fashion, philanthropy, and photography.
