미네소타 흑인 조지 플로이드 사망으로 촉발된 시위가 미 전역으로 확산된 가운데, 켄터키주 루이빌의 유명 셰프 데이빗 맥아티(David MaAtee, 53)가 경찰과 방위대의 과잉진압으로 사망했다. 흑인인 맥아티는 자신의 식당 디노즈 푸드 마트(Dino't Food Mart) 옆 주차장에 모였다가 진압대의 총격으로 변을 당했다. 

한편, 이번 #BlackLivesMatter 시위 도중 잠복 근무 FBI 요원, CNN 기자, 월스트릿저널 기자들이 경찰에 체포됐었다가 풀려났다. 이들은 모두 흑인이다.
