배너티 페어(Vanity Fair) 잡지가 최초로 흑인 사진가의 작품을 표지에 실었다. 흑인 사진가는 다리오 칼미즈(Dario Calmese), 배너티 페어는 1983년 창간됐다.
#BlackLivesMatter를 기해 배우 비올라 데이비스가 모델로 등장했다. 비올라 데이비스는 아카데미상(Fences, 2016, 여우조연상), 에미상(How to Get Away with Murder, 2015, 여우주연상), 2개의 토니상을 수상한 첫 흑인 배우로 주간 타임지 선정 '세계에서 가장 영향력 있는 인물 100인'에 두차례(2012, 2017) 올랐다.
