휘트니뮤지엄이 9월 17일 시작할 예정이었던 #BlackLivesMatter 특별전 'Collective Actions: Artist Interventions in a time of change'을 전격 취소했다.

휘트니는 최근 흑인작가들의 작품을 1점 당 100달러에 파격 할인가로 구입한 것으로 드러났다. 이 특별전에는 79명의 작가들이 초대됐으며, 대부분이 흑인 작가들이다. 이에 SNS를 통해 휘트니가 흑인작가들을 착취한다는 비판이 확산되어 전시 취소에 이른 것. 휘트니는 4억 달러 이상의 기부금을 받고 있다.
