온라인 유통업체 amazon.com의 리뷰 상당수가 가짜로 드러났다. 

CNBC에 따르면, 20개 이상의 페이스북 그룹이 가짜 리뷰를 하루 500여개 이상 올리고 있으며, 셀러는 별 5개 리뷰 건당 6달러나 환불, 혹은 기프트카드로 보상하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

한편, BBC는 라이벌에 피해를 주기 위해 별 하나의 사악한 리뷰가 판치고 있다고 보도했다.  

식당 평가 사이트 yelp.com도 가짜 리뷰로 인해 신뢰감을 잃어왔다.
