'키친 컨피덴셜(Kitchen Confidential)'은 코로나 팬데믹으로 집콕하면서 읽은 첫번째 책이다. 그의 대담성, 무모함과 박식함이 인상적이었다. 어릴 적 부모가 파리에서 자신과 동생을 자동차 안에 두고 고급 레스토랑에서 2-3시간 저녁식사를 했던 기억이 그의 트라우마였던 것 같다. 그가 지구촌을 돌며 진행했던 CNN 다큐멘터리 'Parts Unknown'은 필자가 가장 좋아했던 TV 프로그램이다.
