뉴욕 지하철역의 오염 수치가 위험한 수준으로 드러났다. 뉴욕대 랑고네 연구팀이 뉴욕을 비롯, 보스턴, 필라델피아, 워싱턴 DC의 지하철 71개 공기 샘플을 분석한 바에 따르면, 뉴욕이 최악으로 타나났다. 특히 크리스토퍼 스트릿의  PATH 트레인스테이션 공기는 산불로 인한 그을림 만큼이나 나빴다.
