면도기, 크림, 선글래스 등 주문하지 않은 수상한 소포를 아마존에서 받았다면? 브러싱 사기(brushing scam)일 가능성이 크다. 브러싱 사기란 당신에게 물건을 보내어 확인된 구매자로 만든 후 당신의 이름으로 아마존에 긍정적인 리뷰를 게시하는 것이다. 사기로 판매량을 늘리는 것. 

아마존으로 위장한 전화, 이메일, 텍스트 메시지를 통한 피싱 사기(phishing scam)도 조심해야 한다. 피싱 사기는 인터넷·이메일 등을 통해 개인 정보를 알아내어 돈을 빼돌리는 수법이다.
