지난 2일 오후 11시 경 메릴랜드주 볼티모어에서 주류상회 원더랜드 리커 스토어(Wonderland Liquor Store)를 운영하는 한인 두 자매가 가게를 침입한 흑인 남성으로부터 시멘트 벽돌로 무자비하게 공격을 당해 중상을 입고 입원했다. 경찰은 대릴 돌스(Daryl Doles, 50)를 체포했다. 이 폭행 장면은 숍 내 감시 카메라에 포착됐다.

두 자매의 아들이자 조카 존 윤(John Yun)씨는  우리는 이곳에서 20년 이상 운영해왔다. 이런 무차별한 폭행은 처음이다. 생계를 꾸리러 온 이 곳에서 왜 이런 위협을 받아야 하는지 모르겠다"고 밝혔다. 한편, 래리 호건 메릴랜드 주지사는 아시안혐오 폭행 사건에 대해 비난했다. 

존 윤씨는 엄마와 이모의 회복을 위해 GoFundMe 페이지를 열었으며, 6일 오전 11시 현재까지 약 7만2천달러가 모금됐다.
