뉴욕타임스가 11일자에서 충청남도 서천에서 실시되고 있는 100원짜리 택시가 노인들에게 구세주가 되고 있다고 보도했다. 서천군에선 2013년 인구 감소로 인한 버스 승객 감소로 수익성 없는 노선이 취소되면서 주민들의 생활에 지장이 많았다. 이에 따라 서천군은 주민이 100원 부담하고, 나머지는 군이 부담하는 100원 콜택시를 운영해왔다.
