할리우드 영화의 역사, 과학, 문화적 영향력 등을 소개하는 영화아카데미 뮤지엄이 렌조 피아노(휘트니 신관)의 설계로 완공되어 9월 30일 개관한다. 각 빌딩과 갤러리는 사반 빌딩(5천만불 기부), 스필버그 패밀리 갤러리, 제프리 카첸버그 갤러리, 데이빗 게펜 시어터 등 기부자들의 이름을 땄다. 대공황기 아역 스타 셜리 템플 교육 스튜디오로 마련됐다. 영화아카데미는 필, 의상, 포스터, 무대장치, 시나리오 등 1천300여만점을 소장하고 있다.
