코로나 팬데믹으로 아시안 증오 범죄가 급증한 가운데, 지난 4일 개봉한 블록버스터 '배트맨(The Batman, 감독 맷 리브스)'의 장면이 분노를 자아내고 있다. '배트맨'의 오프닝 10분간에서 지하철에서 아시안 남성이 갱들에게 공격당하는 장면이 길게 나온다. 그러자 배트맨(로버트 패틴슨 분)이 나타나 갱들을 물리치고 "복수(vengeance)'라며 아시안 남성을 구해주는 장면이다. 트위터 사용자들은 이 장면이 '방아쇠를 당기는(부추기며), 아시안 대상 범죄가 급증한 이즈음 둔감하다고 비판하고 있다.
