코로나 확진자가 급증하면서 항공기 안 마스크 의무 착용이 4월 18일에서 5월 3일까지로 연장됐다. 

뉴욕주는 오미크론 2개 변이종(BA2)도 급속도로 확산 중으로 확진자의 92%를 차지하고 있다. 뉴욕대는 강의실 내 고품질 마스크 착용을 강화했다.

뉴욕시에서 지하철, 기차, 버스, 택시 등을 탈 때는 반드시 마스크를 착용해야 한다. 플랫폼과 버스 정거장은 예외. 마스크 착용을 거부하면 벌금 $50을 부과할 수 있다.
