전기자동차 테슬라 CEO 일론 머스크(51)가 지난해 말 구글 창업자이자 친구인 세르게이 브린의 부인 니콜라 샤나한과 바람을 피워 무릎을 꿇고 용서를 빌었다고 월스트릿저널이 보도했다. 브린은 2008년 테슬라가 재정난에 처했을 때 머스크에게 50만 달러를 줄 정도로 각별한 친구 사이였다. 브린은 23andMe 공동 창업자 앤 워즈칙키와 결혼(2007-2015), 1남1녀를 두었으며, 변호사 출신인 두번째 부인 샤나한과 사이에 딸이 있다. 자산 940억 달러로 세계 부자 6위인 브린은 샤나한과 이혼 소송 중이다.  

니콜 샤나한은 중국인 이민자 가정에서 태어나 워싱턴주 푸젯사운드대를 거쳐 산타클라라대 로스쿨을 졸업했다. 2019년 1억 달러를 기부해 형사법률체계(ClearAccessIP)와 기후변화를 개선하는 자선사업(Bia-Echo Foundation)에 주력해온 것으로 알려졌다. 샤나한은 브린과 이혼소송에서 10억 달러 이상의 합의금을 요구한 것으로 전해졌다.
