임시영(Seayoung Yim)씨의 2022 예일드라마상(Yale Drama Series Prize) 수상작 '비계 항아리(Jar of Fat)' 낭독회가 10월 24일 뉴욕 드라마북숍(Drama Book Shop, 266 W 39th St, )에서 열린다. 출연진은  Zoe Kim, Narea Kang, Annie Yim, Christina Liang, Ina Chang, Sophia Skiles, Clew, Roger Yeh, Ariel Estrada, Michael K Hisamoto이며, 연출은 Aileen Wen McGroddy가 맡는다. 

'비계 항아리'는 가족의 무덤에 들어갈 수 없을 정도로 뚱뚱한 한인 자매가 부모와 커뮤니티의 압력으로 살을 빼야하는 상황을 통해 욕망, 추악함과 아름다움을 탐구하는 부조리 코미디다. 임시영씨는 시애틀에서 태어나 워싱턴대학교에서 드라마를 전공한 후 브라운대학원에서 희곡작법으로 석사과정 중이다. 스티븐손하임그래듀에이트펠로십 수상자이기도 하다. https://seayoungyim.com 

예일드라마시리즈상은 연극계의 신인 작가를 발굴하는 권위있는 상으로 2022년 세계 56개 국가에서 1천500여개의 작품이 출품됐다. 임시영씨는 올해의 후보작 8편(Jordan Ramirez Puckett’s A Driving Beat, Lilly Camp’s All Eight, Matthew Paul Olmos’ a home what howls (or the house that was ravine), Seayoung Yim’s Jar of Fat, Candrice Jones’ A Medusa Thread, Libby Heily’s Midnight Showing, Aaron Coleman’s Tell Me I’m Gorgeous at the End of the World, Iraisa Ann Reilly’s The Jersey Devil is a Papi Chulo) 중에서 선정된 것이다. 수상자로는 Neil Wechsler(2008), Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig(2009), Virginia Grise(2010), Jacqueline Goldfinger(2017), Leah Nanako Winkler(2018), Rachel Lynett(2021)가 있다.
