아칸소주의 얼(Earle)시의 시장에 대학 1년생 제일렌 스미스(Jaylen Smith, 18)군이 당선됐다. 스미스는 218표를 얻어 네미 매튜스(Nemi Matthews Sr.) 후보의 139표를 넘어서 미 역사상 최연소 흑인 시장이 됐다. 스미스는 인구 약 2천명의 얼시의 시장으로서 대중교통 안전, 시에 대형 식료품 유입 등을 공약으로 내세웠었다.
