2023 뉴욕필하모닉의 여름 공원 콘서트(Concerts in the Parks)가 6월 13일부터 16일까지 열린다. 

 

공원 콘서트는 브롱스의 밴코틀랜드파크(6월 13일)에서 시작, 맨해튼 센트럴파크 그레이트 론(6월 14일), 퀸즈 커닝햄파크(6월 15일), 그리고 브루클린 프로스펙트파크(6월 16일)로 이어지며, 스태튼아일랜드에선 옥내 콘서트(6월 18일)로 진행된다.

 

지휘봉은 2023-24 시즌을 끝으로 뉴욕필의 챕터를 마감하고, 2014년 1월부터 서울시교향악단(Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, 대표이사 손은경)의 5년 여정을 시작한 얍 판 츠베덴(Jaap van Zweden) 뉴욕필 음악감독이 잡는다.

프로그램은 베토벤의 '교향곡 5번(Symphony in C minor No. 5)', 아론 코플랜드 작곡 '보통 사람을 위한 팡파레, 아팔란치안의 봄, 교향곡 3번(Copland: Fanfare For The Common Man, Appalachian Spring Suite, Third Symphony)', 요한 스트라우스 2세의 오페라 '박쥐(Die Fledermaus Overture' 서곡, '아름답고 푸른 도나우(On The Beautiful Blue Danube)', 그리고 Very Young Composers Works 2곡이 연주될 예정이다. https://nyphil.org

얍 판 츠베덴 Jaap Van Zweden

1960년 네덜란드 암스테르담에서 태어난 츠베덴은 피아니스트였던 아버지의 권유로 5살 때 바이올린 공부를 시작했다. 줄리아드음대에서 도로시 드레이 교수를 사사했으며, 18세에 네덜란드의 로열 콘세르트헤바우 관현악단(RCO)의 최연소 악장으로 임명되어 17년간 연주했다. 베를린에서 레너드 번스타인의 권유로 지휘 공부를 시작, 달라스심포니(2008-2018), 홍콩필하모닉(2012-) 등의 음악감독을 맡았다. 츠베덴은 오케스트라의 연주 역량을 단기간에 끌어올려 오케스트라 트레이너로서의 명성을 얻었으며, 2019년 클래식 전문지 그라모폰은 홍콩필하모닉을 ‘2019 올해의 오케스트라’로 선정했다. 

 

얍 판 츠베덴은 2024년 1월부터 5년간 서울시립교향악단(Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, 대표이사 손은경)을 이끌게 된다. 현 서울시향 음악감독 오스모 벤스케의 임기는 올해 말로 만료되며 2023년 음악감독 공백기엔 객원 지휘자들이 서울시향을 지휘할 예정이다. 2018/19 시즌부터 뉴욕필을 이끌어온 츠베덴은 2021년 8월 2023-24 시즌을 마지막으로 뉴욕필을 사임한다고 밝혔었다. 이로써 202년엔 뉴욕필과 서울시향을 오가며 지휘할 것으로 알려졌다.

The 2023 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will take place June 13–16, 2023. Music Director Jaap van Zweden conducts four free outdoor concerts at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (June 13); the Great Lawn in Central Park,

 

Manhattan (June 14); Cunningham Park, Queens (June 15); and Prospect Park, Brooklyn (June 16). The program will include Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, J. Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus Overture and On The Beautiful Blue Danube, and works by two New York Philharmonic Very Young Composers. 

 

All four outdoor performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. and conclude with fireworks.

In addition, Musicians from the New York Philharmonic will perform a Free Indoor Concert, on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at St. George Theatre in Staten Island. Program to be announced. Tickets are free but required and will be available at a later date.

The New York Philharmonic’s free parks concerts have become an iconic New York summer experience since they began in 1965, transforming parks throughout the New York area into a patchwork of picnickers and music lovers, providing the city an opportunity to hear classical music under the stars. More than 15 million listeners have been delighted by the performances since their inception.
