셀린 송 감독/ '전생(Past Lives)'
셀린 송(송하영) 감독의 데뷔작 '전생(Past Lives)'으로 2024 골든글로브상 드라마 부문 작품, 감독, 각본, 여우주연(그레타 리), 비영어 작품상(외국어 영화상) 후보에 올랐다. 토드 헤인즈 감독의 'May December'에 출연한 한국계 찰스 멜튼(Charles Melton)은 드라마 부문 남우조연상에 노미네이트됐다. TV 부문에선 이성진 극본 '성난 사람들(Beef)'가 한정 시리즈 작품상, 남녀 주연상(스티븐 연, 알리 왕) 후보에 올랐다. 제 81회 골든글로브상 시상식은 내년 1월 8일 LA 비버리힐튼호텔에서 열린다.
'전생'은 어린 시절 한국에서 친했던 소년, 소녀가 캐나다로 이민 가면서 헤어졌다가 20여년만에 뉴욕에서 다시 만나면서 벌어지는 이야기를 담백하게 담았다. 그레타 리, 유태오, 존 마가로가 출연한다. 올 초 선댄스영화제에서 최초로 상영되어 호평받았으며, 베를린 국제영화제에서도 상영됐다. '전생'은 독립영화를 대상으로 하는 2023 고담상(Gotham Awards) 최우수작품상을 수상했으며, AFI(미영화협회) 베스트 영화 10에 선정됐다.
셀린 송은 1988년 한국에서 태어나 12살 때 캐나다 온타리오주로 이민해 성장했으며, 퀸즈대학교에서 심리학을 전공한 후 컬럼비아대에서 희곡작법으로 석사학위를 받았다. 송 감독의 아버지는 시나리오 작가/ 감독 송능한씨(각본: 수렁에서 건진 내딸, 태백산맥, 각본-감독: 넘버 3)이며, 삼촌 송길한씨는 시나리오 작가(짝코, 만다라, 안개마을, 길소뜸, 티켓, 씨받이)다.
