'요식업계의 오스카'로 부리우는 제임스비어드재단상(James Beard Foundation Awards) 2024 시상식이 6월 10일 시카고 릴릭오페라에서 열렸다. 뉴욕의 레스토랑과 셰프는 지난해에 이어 전국 부문상에서 떨어졌다. 뉴욕주 베스트 셰프상은 지난해 신인상(Emerging Chef Award) 후보에 올랐던 브루클린 클로버 힐(Clover Hill)의 흑인 셰프 찰리 미첼(Charlie Mitchell)이 수상했다. 

 

eater.com에 따르면, 제임스비어드재단상은 1991년 뉴욕에서 시작됐지만, 2015년 시상식을 시카고로 이전했다. 뉴욕은 2023년까지만 해도 매년 전국 부문 수상자를 배출해왔다. 그러나, 2021년 내부 감사 이후 지역적 다양성을 추구한 것으로 보인다.
