Taste of Times Square 2024

 

코로나19 팬데믹으로 중단됐던 '타임스퀘어의 맛(Taste of Times Square)'이 2024년 돌아온다. 

 

오는 9월 9일 오후 5시부터 9시까지 타임스퀘어 인근 이탈리안, 인디안, 멕시칸, 카리비안 등 다국적 레스토랑 30여곳이 참가해 시식 메뉴($3-$6)를 제공한다. 타임스퀘어에 최근 지점을 낸 세렌디피티3를 비롯, 하드록 카페, 버질 BBQ, 카마인, 치즈케이크로 유명한 주니어즈 레스토랑 등의 대표 메뉴를 맛볼 수 있다. 콘서트홀 소니홀은 치킨 케밥과 김치 소스를 준비했다.

 

티켓 부스에서 티켓을 구매해서 시식할 수 있다. 콘서트는 더피 스퀘어(Duffy Square, 브로드웨이, 45-48스트릿)에서 열린다.

뉴욕은 '경제의 중심지'이자 '문화의 메카'로 불리워왔다. 이제 '음식의 메카'로 불리워도 좋을 것이다. 세계 톱 클래스의 요리사들이 제국을 확장해가고 있으며, 변방의 스타요리사들이 속속 뉴욕에 입성하고 있다. 또한 뉴요커들의 입맛을 자극하는 음식 축제가 곳곳에서 이어지고 있다.

 

 

 '세계의  교차로’ 타임스퀘어에서 11일 저녁 음식축제 ‘타임스퀘어의 맛(Taste of Times Square)’이 열렸다. 브로드웨이 공연 할인 티켓 부스 TKTS가 자리한 브로드웨이와 7애브뉴의 교차로 지점(더피스퀘어)에는 흰색 텐트가 쳐지고 그릴에는 햄버거가 지글지글 구어지고 있었다.

 

 

 스페인 요리의 타파스(tapas), 한국의 반찬 사이즈로 시식할 수 있는 이 축제엔 $2-$6에 파스타, 바비큐에서 핸드롤까지 다양한 음식을 맛볼 수 있는 행사였다.  www.timessquarenyc.org.

 

 

 

버질(Virgil) 바비큐의 갈비구이와 치킨 바비큐 스탠드. 버질은 풀드포크샌드위치와 크랩 케이크도 잘한다. SP

 

 

 아이리쉬 바 오루니(O'Lunney's)에선 크랩케이크와 셰퍼드 파이를 준비했다. SP

 

 

남자 무용 이름을 딴 터키 레스토랑 '더비쉬(Dervish)'는 스터프 그레이프리브즈와 샐러드 등 건강 요리를 소개했다. SP

 

 

음식축제의 분위기를 띄우는 음악도 빠질 수 없다. 이날 재즈와 블루스 밴드가 타임스퀘어의 소음을 잠재우기도. SP

 

 

타임스퀘어의 명소 카마인(Carmine's)은 라자니아와 파스타로 후각을 자극했다. SP

 

 

크리스 루스 스테이크의 미니 햄버거, 슬라이더. SP

 

 

퓨전 레스토랑 루비 푸(Ruby Foos's)의 연어와 아보카도 애피타이저, 그리고 포춘 쿠키. SP
