Le Cafe Louis Vuitton
The Concept
Le Café Louis Vuitton is a one-of-a-kind gastronomic destination for food and culture, a concept that reflects the forward-thinking direction that the brand represents today. Located on the fourth floor of the flagship Louis Vuitton store at 6 East 57th Street, the café is conceived to be a lively destination for visitors to feel immersed in an atmosphere of cultural inspiration while indulging in a creative menu curated by local talents Christophe Bellanca and Mary George, and guided by French chefs Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frederic, who have been collaborating with the House since the opening of the Louis Vuitton Café in St. Tropez.
Exuding French design, the dining room is accented with warm neutral tones and animated by wall-to-wall books, a feature always incorporated into any Louis Vuitton environment. The library showcases 650 titles, including collaborators such as Stephen Sprouse and Jeff Koons, as well as international creators like Rem Koolhaas. Open during store hours, the café is the perfect place for afternoon tea post-shopping, a casual lunch with friends, or a dinner date with that special someone. Providing a multitude of experiences, guests can enjoy a coffee and decadent dessert in the reading alcove, sip on an exquisite cocktail at the bar, or indulge in an unforgettable meal in the main dining room.
The Cuisine
The dining experience centers around luxury snacking – familiar, generously portioned dishes reinvented with equal parts fun and refinement, an exchange of French flair and local touch. Drawing from global influences, the menu showcases bespoke creations conceived around local, seasonally sourced ingredients.
From one capital of culture to another, familiar flavors are revisited in ways that feel distinctly American. The menu invites you to travel with subtle nods to Mediterranean and French flavors while respecting the wishes, desires, and vitality that is New York City. Original creations such as Lobster Ravioli, Croque ‘Louis Paris,’ and of course, a decadent Burger will share the menu with signature dishes like the Trio of Eggs and the Noisette Entremet, a show-stopping dessert by Maxime Frederic.
The Chefs
Beyond the House’s existing dining concepts helmed by globally renowned chefs, the New York café is overseen by Executive Chef Christophe Bellanca and Executive Pastry Chef Mary George, both resident New Yorkers. At the beginning of this project, both chefs spent a month in Paris and St. Tropez with longstanding friends of the House, French chefs Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frederic, to understand the spirit and culture of the brand. The collaboration between the four chefs encourages a constant dialogue across French and local cuisine and introduces the values of Louis Vuitton. Together, they will transpose French savoir-faire to the lively energy of New York City.
