2025 USA Fellowship

 

 

 

시카고에 기반한 비영리단체 United States Artists(USA)의 2025 펠로쉽 수상자로 한국계 아티스트 갈라 포라스 김(Gala Porras-Kim, 사진 오른쪽)과 작가 매튜 세일세스(Matthew Salesses, 사진 왼쪽) 등 50인이 선정됐다. 

 

콜롬비아 보고타에서 태어난갈라 포라스 김은 권력과 통제를 주제로 작업해왔으며, 서울 리움미술관, LA현대미술관 등지에서 개인전, 휘트니 비엔날레, 광주 비엔날레, 상파울루 비엔날레 등에서 전시했다. 한국에서 태어나 미국으로 입양된 후 에머슨칼리지에서 석사, 휴스턴대에서 박사학위를 받았다. 버지니아공대 문예창작 부교수로 회고록 'To Grieve Is to Carry Another Time'(Little, Brown)을 출간할 예정이다. 

 

USA 펠로쉽은 미술, 건축, 디자인, 공예, 댄스, 영화, 미디어, 음악, 연극 및 공연, 전통예술, 글쓰기 분야에서 선정해오고 있다. 올해 펠로우 중 12인은 인디언 원주민, 4명은 하와이 원주민 예술가 집단이다. 

수상자들은 지원금 5만 달러와 재정 계획, 경력 컨설팅, 법률 자문, 개인 관리 등 맞춤형 서비스에 대한 액세스를 제공한다.
